Mirabito bill renaming Arch Street Bridge headed to governor for signature

HARRISBURG, March 17 – The state Senate today unanimously passed Rep. Rick Mirabito's bill that would rename the Arch Street Bridge in Lycoming County the Duboistown Bridge.

House Bill 421 now goes to the governor for his signature.

"I want to thank the House and Senate for their bipartisan support of this bill that is so important to the history of Lycoming County," said Mirabito, D-Lycoming. "This bill creates a lasting memorial to John and Mathais DuBois, the founders of Duboistown."

In 1842 and 1857 the brothers purchased land and divided it into parcels that established the village that bears their name. The bridge carries state Route 2064 over the Susquehanna River between Williamsport and Duboistown.
