House Transportation Committee to hold hearing on public-private partnerships, national transportation funding

 

HARRISBURG, Sept. 3 – House Transportation Committee Chairman Joseph Markosek, D-Allegheny/Westmoreland, said a public hearing and briefing are scheduled next week in Philadelphia to examine several state transportation issues.

 

A hearing to assess pending legislation which addresses public-private partnerships and look at the issue of national transportation funding will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8. An informal briefing on the status of transportation projects in southeastern Pennsylvania is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. Both events will be in SEPTA Headquarters’ Board Room, 10th floor, 1234 Market St., Philadelphia.

 

Among those testifying at Monday’s hearing are:

·         Marcus Lemon, chief counsel of the Federal Highway Administration;

·         James Whitty, manager of the Office of Innovative Partnerships and Alternative Funding, Oregon Department of Transportation;

·         George Schoener, executive director of the I-95 Corridor Coalition;

·         Art Smith, board chairman of the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships;

·         Katherine Siggerud, managing director of physical infrastructure issues, U.S. Government Accountability Office; and

·         Steven Cohen, assistant director of physical infrastructure issues, U.S. GAO.
