Leach to hold forum to address community concerns about West Nile spraying

KING OF PRUSSIA, Sept. 5 – State Rep. Daylin Leach has scheduled a community meeting next week to address the public’s concerns about August’s West Nile virus aerial spraying.

The forum will include state and local officials as well as an environmental advocate.

The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 in the boardroom of the Lower Merion Township Administration Building, 75 E. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore.

The meeting will be televised live on Comcast Channel 7 and Verizon Channel 37 for residents who are unable to attend.

Several officials will be on hand to discuss the spraying and answer questions from the audience. Those scheduled to attend include:

Leach said he decided to have the meeting after receiving numerous complaints from constituents about recent aerial mosquito treatments administered by DEP. The treatments were aimed at protecting the public against the mosquito-borne West Nile virus in portions of Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. Leach said many residents believe they were not conducted with adequate advance warning so residents could take precautionary actions during the spraying.

For more information about the meeting, contact Leach’s constituent service office at 610-768-4200.
