Pallone announces Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant

for Upper Burrell Township

ARNOLD, Sept. 8 – State Rep. John Pallone, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, is pleased to announce that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will be awarding Upper Burrell Township a Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant of $4,091.31.

The grant will be used to reimburse the township for 50 percent of its eligible expenses for performing sewage enforcement.

"Malfunctioning on-lot sewage systems is one of the leading causes of waterborne illness in Pennsylvania. This grant will help Upper Burrell ensure clean, safe drinking water for its residents," Pallone said.

The Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant Program was created to aid municipalities in correcting on-lot sewage disposal problems and taking preventive measures to avoid future problems by carrying out the local sewage inspection and enforcement requirements contained in Pennsylvania’s Sewage Facilities Law.
