DePasquale: Rep. Mackereth will be sorely missed
HARRISBURG, July 1 – In light of the news that state Rep. Bev Mackereth, R-York, will be stepping down as a member of the state House at the end of the current legislative session and withdrawing her name from the November ballot to accept a position with the York County Human Services Department, state Rep. Eugene DePasquale issued the following statement:
"I commend Representative Mackereth for her service in the state legislature, for her advocacy on education issues and for her commitment to criminal justice. I am losing a friend in the state House but York County is gaining a top-notch professional who will serve all York County residents well.
"She has been a mentor to me and I value our friendship. Bev is a great person with the right demeanor to balance the tough demands and I wish her well."
Mackereth is a four-term legislator first elected to the House in 2000.
