DePasquale tour celebrates National School Lunch Week
HARRISBURG, Oct. 10 – State Rep. Eugene DePasquale, D-York, announced that the week of Oct. 13-17 is National School Lunch Week. Established in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, the week is designed to help raise awareness for school nutrition programs and the vital role they play in our children's lives.
DePasquale said that each year, the School Nutrition Association helps schools celebrate National School Lunch Week with a theme, suggested menus, activity sheets and other materials. This year's theme is a tribute to the presidential election, "Vote for School Lunch."
To help schools in the York area celebrate, DePasquale has planned a weeklong lunch tour at local schools to promote healthy and nutritious meals:
· Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lincolnway Elementary School, 2625 W. Philadelphia St., York;
· Wednesday, Oct. 15 from noon to 1 p.m. at York Suburban Middle School, 455 Sundale Drive, York;
· Thursday, Oct. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Davis Elementary School, 300 S. Ogontz St., York; and
· Friday, Oct. 17 from noon to 1 p.m. at Central York High School, 601 Mundis Mill Road, York.
