Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on jobs
Monday in McKeesport
HARRISBURG, Jan. 4 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on job creation and protection from
2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at McKeesport Palisades, 501 Water St., McKeesport.
State Reps. Marc Gergely and Bill Kortz, both D-Allegheny, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairmen.
The hearing will focus on the current employment climate in western Pennsylvania, as well as efforts being made to create and protect jobs throughout the Commonwealth. The House Democrats introduced a JumpstartPA jobs plan in October that is available at www.pahouse.com.
The current hearing agenda is:
- 2 p.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 2:10 p.m. – Maury Burgwin, president/CEO, The Mon Yough Area Chamber of Commerce
- 2:30 p.m. -- James Kunz Jr., business manager, IUOE Local 66
- 2:50 p.m. -- Frank Snyder, secretary-treasurer, PA AFL-CIO
- 3:10 p.m. -- Christopher Masciantonio, general manager of government affairs, US Steel
- 3:30 p.m. -- Laura Fisher, senior vice president of special projects, Allegheny Conference on Community Development
- 3:50 p.m. -- Robert Hurley, deputy director, Allegheny County Economic Development
