Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on

narrowband radio implementation Tuesday in Sharpsburg Borough


HARRISBURG, Jan. 5 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing about narrowband radio implementation in Pennsylvania from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 in the Sharpsburg Borough Building’s Council Chambers, 1611 Main St., Pittsburgh.


State Rep. Dom Costa, D-Allegheny, who requested the hearing, will serve as its co-chair. The hearing will focus on the upcoming deadline for implementation of the Federal Communications Commission narrowband radio mandate, which could result in signfincant noncompliance fines to counties and first responders. The mandate’s aim is to increase both voice and data capacity and efficiency in public safety radio communications by relieving bandwidth congestion.
