Majority Policy Committee, Levdansky to hold hearing
on combined reporting Wednesday in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 19 – House Majority Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will be holding a public hearing on what combined reporting and closing corporate tax loopholes would mean for Pennsylvania from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the University of Pittsburgh's William Pitt Union Building, Room 548, 3959 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh.
Sturla noted that a current loophole in state business tax law allows some corporations to avoid taxation by shifting profits to foreign subsidiaries.
State Rep. David Levdansky, D-Allegheny/Washington, the House Finance Committee chairman, will serve as co-chairman. The current agenda for the hearing is:
· 2 p.m. – Welcome and opening remarks from Sturla and Levdansky
· 2:10 p.m. – Michael Wood, research director, Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center
· 2:30 p.m. – Michael Maserov, senior fellow of State Fiscal Project, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
· 2:50 p.m. – John Callahan, director of Government Affairs, Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry
· 3:10 p.m. – Don Geyer, deputy chief counsel, Pennsylvania Department of Revenue
