Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on privatization of state liquor stores Thursday in Philadelphia
HARRISBURG, Feb. 22 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee hold a public hearing on the privatization of state liquor stores from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Room 109AB, 1101 Arch St., Philadelphia.
House Liquor Control Committee Democratic Chairman Dante Santoni, D-Berks, will be in attendance.
The current agenda for the hearing is:
- 10:00 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 10:10 a.m. – Nathan Benefield, director of policy research, Commonwealth Foundation;
- 10:30 a.m. – Wendell Young, president, United Food and Commercial Workers 1776
- 10:50 a.m. – Panel from Independent State Store Union: Neil Cashman, Jr., government affairs coordinator; Penny Dessus, executive board member; and Walter Mason, executive board member
- 11:10 a.m. – Stephen Herzenberg, executive director, Keystone Research Center
- 11:30 a.m. – Joe Conti, chief executive officer, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board
- 11:50 a.m. – Closing remarks
The hearing is open to the public and media coverage is invited.
