Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on
proposed state budget cuts Monday in Erie
HARRISBURG, March 14 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on the expansive cuts included in Gov. Tom Corbett’s 2012-13 budget proposal from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 19 at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, Room 112, 301 Peninsula Drive, Erie.
State Reps. John Hornaman, Flo Fabrizio and Pat Harkins, all D-Erie, requested the hearing and will be in attendance.
The hearing will focus on the widespread cuts to health and social services proposed by the governor and the impact they will have on residents in northwest Pennsylvania.
The current hearing agenda is:
- 3 p.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 3:10 p.m. – Heather Arnet, chief executive officer, Women and Girls Foundation
- 3:30 p.m. – Linda King, executive director, SafeNet
- 3:50 p.m. – Shona Eakin, executive director, Voices for Independent Living
- 4:10 p.m. – Carl Berry, director of human resources, Community Resources for Independence
- 4:30 p.m. – Sean Wiley, director of Saint Vincent Foundation and Legislative Affairs, Saint Vincent Health Center
- 4:50 p.m. -- Closing remarks
