Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on court-ordered reassessments of property values Monday in Washington
HARRISBURG, March 18 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on court-ordered reassessments of property values from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, March 21 at the Courthouse Square Building, Public Meeting Room, 100 W. Beau St., Washington, Pa.
State Rep. Jesse White, D-Washington/Allegheny/Beaver, will co-chair the hearing since he requested it to solicit local testimony on reassessments, which have been the subject of numerous court decisions in Allegheny County and by the state Supreme Court. White has introduced legislation (H.B. 166) to address Pennsylvania’s fragmented method of reassessing property values to protect homeowners from dramatic increases in property taxes.
