Sturla brings Majority Policy Committee to Franklin & Marshall College on April 8 for public hearing on fiscal situation of local governments
HARRISBURG, April 1 Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the House Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on the fiscal situation of local governments from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 in the Woods Memorial Room of Franklin & Marshall Colleges Alumni Sports & Fitness Center, 929 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster.
The hearing will be co-chaired by state Rep. Bob Freeman, D-Northampton, who serves as the chairman of the House Local Government Committee.
The current hearing agenda is:
· 10 a.m. Welcome and opening remarks by Sturla and Freeman
· 10:10 a.m. Panel from PA League of Cities and Municipalities: John Callahan, president and Bethlehem mayor; and Rick Gray, director-at-large and Lancaster mayor
· 10:30 a.m. Judy Schwank, president and CEO, 10,000 Friends of PA
· 10:50 a.m. Ed Troxell, director of government affairs, PA State Association of Boroughs
· 11:10 a.m. Panel from the PA Association of Township Supervisors: Elam Herr, assistant executive director; and Les Houck, second vice president
· 11:30 a.m. Douglas Hill, executive director, County Commissioners Association of PA
· 11:50 a.m. Mike Kyle, member of PA Municipal Authorities Association and executive director of Lancaster Area Sewer Authority
· 12:10 p.m. Closing remarks
The hearing is open to the public and media coverage is invited.
