Majority Policy Committee to hold public hearing at Capitol Tuesday on basic education funding
HARRISBURG, April 2 – Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the House Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on basic education funding from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 in the House Majority Caucus Room, 140 Main Capitol Building, Harrisburg.
The current hearing agenda is:
· 10 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks by Sturla
· 10:10 a.m. – "Understanding Pennsylvania School Finance History and Fundamentals" by Ron Cowell, president, The Education Policy and Leadership Center
· 10:45 a.m. – "Pennsylvania's Costing-Out Study; Progress in 2008; and Next Steps for 6-Year Plan for School Funding Reform" by panel of Robert Feir, president, EdStrat21; Joe Bard, executive director, Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools; and Eric Elliott, assistant director of research, Pennsylvania State Education Association
· 11:30 a.m. – Closing remarks
The hearing is open to the public and media coverage is invited.
