Majority Policy Committee, Deasy to explore education funding issues Wednesday in McKees Rocks
MCKEES ROCKS, May 10 – Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the House Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on Pennsylvania’s education funding issues, including special education and charter schools, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 12 in the auditorium at Sto-Rox High School, 1105 Valley St.
State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairman. The current agenda is:
- 2 p.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 2:10 p.m. – Panel from Sto-Rox High School
Ø Dr. Fran Serenka, superintendent
Ø Dr. Ed Martiz, school director
- 2:30 p.m. – Panel from Northgate School District
Ø Dr. Reggie Bonfield, superintendent
Ø Ruth Strasser, director of special services
- 2:50 p.m. – Barbara Supinka, staff representative, American Federation of Teachers-PA
- 3:10 p.m. – Panel from Allegheny Intermediate Unit
