Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on state budget education cuts Tuesday in Lancaster
HARRISBURG, July 8 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, today announced that the committee will hold a public hearing to examine the impact of education cuts in the 2011-2012 state budget from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at J.P. McCaskey High School's Recital Hall, 445 North Reservoir St., Lancaster.
The current hearing agenda is:
- 1 p.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 1:10 p.m. – Pedro Rivera, superintendent, School District of Lancaster
- 1:40 p.m. – Baruch Kintisch, director of policy advocacy, Education Law Center
- 2:10 p.m. – Dr. James McCollum, executive deputy to the president and chief of staff, Millersville University
- 2:40 p.m. – Ron Cowell, president, The Education and Policy Leadership Center
- 3:10 p.m. – Closing remarks
The hearing is open to the public and media coverage is invited.
