Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing
on Growing Greener Tuesday in Lafayette Hill
HARRISBURG, July 22 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on the state's Growing Greener program from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 in the Whitemarsh Township Administration Building's boardroom, 616 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill.
Growing Greener is an important state program that preserves farmland, conserves open space, and provides positive environmental impacts. Funding for the program has taken a sharp decline since funds from a $625 million voter-approved bond in 2006 are largely exhausted and only a small portion of tipping fee revenues are projected to be available for the program.
State Reps. Mike Gerber and Josh Shapiro, both D-Montgomery, requested the hearing and will serve as hearing co-chairs.
The current hearing agenda is:
The hearing is open to the public and media coverage is invited.
