House Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on the
Clean Indoor Air Act Thursday in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, July 23 – House Democratic Policy Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced that the committee will hold a public hearing examining the impacts of the Clean Indoor Air Act from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at the University of Pittsburgh’s O’Hara Student Center Dining Room, 4024 O’Hara St., Pittsburgh.
State Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chair. Frankel plans to introduce legislation to amend the Clean Indoor Air Act to eliminate the language that prohibits local governments from enacting and enforcing their own stronger smoking bans.
The current hearing agenda is:
· 10 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
· 10:10 a.m. – Cindy Thomas, executive director, Tobacco Free Allegheny
· 10:30 a.m. – Panel on health equity
