Majority Policy Committee, O'Brien to examine clean water issues

HARRISBURG, July 27 – Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the House Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on clean water issues in Pennsylvania from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 29 in the Independence Visitor Center's Liberty View Ballroom, at Sixth and Market streets, Philadelphia.
State Rep. Mike O'Brien requested the hearing and will serve as its co-chairman. The current agenda is:
· 10 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
· 10:10 a.m. – John Hanger, secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
· 10:30 a.m. – Howard Neukrug, Office of Watersheds director, Philadelphia Water Department
· 10:50 a.m. – Panel of clean water advocates:
Ø Brady Russell, Eastern Pennsylvania director, Clean Water Action
Ø Lamonte Garber, Pa. agriculture program manager, Chesapeake Bay Foundation
Ø Erika Staaf, clean water advocate, PennEnvironment
Ø Christine Knapp, director of outreach, Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future
· 11:30 a.m. – Panel of commissions:
Ø Carol R. Collier, executive director, Delaware River Basin Commission
