Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on

state budget cuts Wednesday in Conway

 

HARRISBURG, Aug. 1 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on state budget cuts from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Conway Volunteer Fire Department No. 2 Banquet Hall, 900 Gross St., Conway.

 

State Reps. Robert F. Matzie, D-Beaver, and Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairs. This hearing will consider the impact budget cuts are having on communities in western Pennsylvania as the Policy Committee evaluates what needs will be required for next year’s state budget.

 

The current hearing agenda is:

Ø  David Wytiaz, superintendent, Aliquippa School District

Ø  Dr. Ron Sofo, superintendent, Freedom School District

Ø  Thomas Zelesnik, executive director, Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit

Ø  Lynn Foltz, Midwest/Region 2 director, PA School Boards Association

Ø  Tony Amadio, chairman, Beaver County Commissioners

Ø  Joe Spanik, commissioner, Beaver County

Ø  Bruce Simmeth, executive director, United Way

Ø  Jill Marsillio-Colonna, executive director, Women’s Center of Beaver County

Ø  Joe Cook, executive director, Mental Health Association in Beaver County
