Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing
on Marcellus Shale Monday in Wilkes-Barre
HARRISBURG, Aug. 11 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on Marcellus Shale issues from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at Wilkes University's Henry Student Center's Ballroom, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre.
State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, who requested the hearing, will serve as its co-chairman. The hearing will include discussion of the Governor’s Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission report.
The current hearing agenda is:
· 1 p.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
· 1:10 p.m. – Panel of environmental advocates
Ø Dr. Thomas Jiunta, president, Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition
Ø Nancy Dolan, treasurer, Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition

· 2:10 p.m. – Panel from Marcellus Shale Coalition
