Democratic Policy Committee to hold hearing

on state budget cuts Tuesday in Scranton


HARRISBURG, Aug. 12 House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing on state budget cuts from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Scranton High School auditorium, 63 Munchak Way, Scranton.


State Reps. Ken Smith and Kevin Murphy, both D-Lackawanna, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairmen. The hearing will consider the impact budget cuts are having on communities in northeastern Pennsylvania as the Policy Committee evaluates what needs will be required for next years state budget.

  Mike Mahon, superintendent, Abington Heights School District

  Richard McDonald, superintendent, Dunmore School District

  Joseph Surridge, business manager, Riverside School District

  Don Broderick, executive director, ARC-NEPA

  Joyce Sacco, director of operations, Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania

  Keith Williams, community organizer, NEPA Center for Independent Living

  Michael Hanley, executive director, United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern PA
