Buxton seeking local World War II and Korean War veterans

HARRISBURG, Feb. 26 – Rep. Ron Buxton, D-Dauphin, is seeking World War II and Korean War veterans who are residents of the 103rd Legislative District for an upcoming recognition ceremony in May.

"I am asking for the community's help to identify veterans who would be interested in taking part in this special ceremony so that we can offer a small bit of gratitude for their service and sacrifices," Buxton said. "If you or someone you know is a veteran who served in these wars, lives within the area I represent and would be interested in being part of this tribute, please contact my office to sign up.

"I want to make sure as many local veterans as possible are afforded this opportunity."

At the ceremony, each veteran, or family member of a deceased veteran, will receive a special House certificate and medal.

Buxton added that registrants also can sign up through his Web site at www.pahouse.com/buxton. Veterans will be asked to supply their name, address, branch and dates of service.

Veterans' contact information can be provided by the veteran directly or by friends and family. Buxton's office will then announce details for the ceremony at a later time and contact veterans who have already expressed an interest in participating.

Buxton's office can be reached at 783-9342.
