$25,000 state grant will fund plan for Danville riverfront

HARRISBURG, April 16 – State Rep. Robert E. Belfanti Jr. announced today that a $25,000 state grant has been approved for the Montour Area Recreation Commission to develop a recreation and open space plan for the Danville riverfront.

"The plan will include three priority areas for parks, as well as a study of the feasibility of neighborhood and regional trail connections," Belfanti said. "I congratulate the recreation commission for taking advantage of the grant funding that the state offers to help communities preserve open space and improve quality of life for residents."

Belfanti said the funding was awarded through the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program. Funding for the grants comes from several sources, including the Growing Greener bond fund the General Assembly passed and state voters approved in 2005.

CCPP is administered by DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. It provides grants and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofit groups to plan, acquire and develop parks, recreation areas, and conservation and greenways projects.
