Belfanti announces grant for local arts council
HARRISBURG, Aug. 8 – State Rep. Robert E. Belfanti Jr. announced today that the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities will receive a state grant for $2,207.
The grant is being awarded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency under the Office of the Governor that administers grant programs and provides support for local arts organizations in Pennsylvania.
The grant will be used by the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities for general operating support. The council's mission is to enhance quality of life, economic development and tourism in Northumberland County and surrounding counties by promoting and supporting the arts, and by offering cultural and educational programs and exhibits. The council is located in Shamokin.
Belfanti said the grant was awarded through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' Pennsylvania Partnership in the Arts program. PPA, which operates in all 67 counties, is a group of local organizations that funnel money from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to a variety of local and community arts organizations and activities.
More information about PCA, PPA and various state funding opportunities for the arts is available at www.pacouncilonthearts.org.
