Belfanti reminds businesses that labor law posters are free
Employers should avoid vendors selling posters for a fee
HARRISBURG, Sept. 12 – State Rep. Robert E. Belfanti Jr. is reminding area business owners and other employers that obtaining the workplace labor law compliance posters required by state law should not add to their cost of doing business.
Belfanti said the state Department of Labor and Industry makes all the posters that are necessary available for free at its Web site. He encouraged employers to avoid direct-mail and online marketing scams that charge a fee to provide businesses with these labor law posters.
Some businesses receive solicitations that are accompanied by order forms," he said. "These solicitations look official, and are sometimes accompanied by warnings about federal and state penalties for not having the labor law posters," Belfanti said. "Employers should ignore these solicitations. They can find out which posters they need and get them for free simply by visiting the L and I Web site."
Businesses can find the free posters at www.dli.state.pa.us. They are under the headline "Workplace Posters" and can be printed and posted for full compliance with state labor laws.
Belfanti, who is chairman of the House Labor Relations Committee, said the Web site also includes a link to the U.S. Department of Labor poster page, where required federal postings can be obtained for free.
Employers can also request free state labor law posters through the mail by calling 717-783-8794.
