Smith comments on 2008-09 state budget
HARRISBURG, Feb. 5 – State Rep. Ken Smith, D-Lackawanna, released the following statement on the $28.3 billion 2008-09 state budget proposal presented by Gov. Ed Rendell today.
"I think what strikes me most is the $400 one-time rebate that the governor wants to give to our low-income working families because those are the people who are picking up their lunch boxes every day and heading out the door to make a living.
"I also like the governor's initiative with Cover all Kids and Cover All Pennsylvanians because back in the northeast that's a great concern of ours.
"The proposed 2008-09 state budget is a fiscally sound plan, yet aggressive and proposes to take care of our working families, senior citizens and children."
