Smith reappointed to Small Business Advocacy Council
HARRISBURG, April 15 – State Rep. Ken Smith, D-Lackawanna, has been reappointed to the Small Business Advocacy Council for the 2009-10 legislative session by Pennsylvania House Speaker Keith McCall, D-Carbon.
Smith is the owner of Smith's Restaurant in Scranton.
"Being a small-business owner, I am familiar with many of the challenges small-business owners face in today's economy," Smith said. "We must keep costs low so we can offer prices that will keep our patrons coming back, yet we need to meet payroll for our employees and cover the other rising costs that small businesses face."
The Small Business Advocacy Council was created in conjunction with the state Department of Community and Economic Development in 1996 to identify the needs and promote the interests of businesses in Pennsylvania with fewer than 25 employees.
Smith also served on the council during the previous legislative session.
