Murphy: DCNR accepting grant applications

for Community Conservation Partnerships Program

HARRISBURG, Jan. 19 – State Rep. Kevin Murphy announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is accepting applications for the Community Conservation Partnerships Program. The deadline to apply is April 21.

"The program provides grants to fund a wide array of projects," said Murphy, D-Lackawanna. "That includes community recreation, land trusts, rails-to-trails, river conservation, heritage areas and more."

The program generally requires a local match, usually half the grant amount in cash or an in-kind contribution, Murphy said.

More information about the program is available at www.dcnr.state.pa.us/brc/grants. He also said interested parties can call his Scranton office at 570-342-4348.

Murphy said applicants should discuss their proposed project before submitting an application by calling DNCR Northeast Region Natural Resource Programs Supervisor Dennis DeMara at 570-963-4973, or Recreation and Parks Supervisor Lorne Possinger at 570-963-4974

Murphy also said DCNR will hold a workshop to help applicants prepare a successful application from 8:30 a.m. until noon Feb. 18 at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke. To register, people can visit www.dcnr.state.pa.us/calendar.
