Honoring Pennsylvania’s emergency responders
HARRISBURG, March 27 – State Rep. Frank Andrews Shimkus, D-Lackawanna, is introducing legislation to declare every Sept. 11 Pennsylvania Emergency Responders’ Day.
Shimkus said, “The attack on America reminded us of the importance of our emergency responders. When other people run from tragedy, emergency personnel run toward it to save lives and property.”
The legislation would honor firefighters, police, public safety personnel, emergency dispatchers, ambulance personnel, first response teams and all those who protect the Commonwealth through service and dedication.
Shimkus said there is a groundswell of support for the bill and dozens of lawmakers are eager to co-sponsor it. He said he expects the House to adopt the measure quickly.
