Unemployment compensation Web site’s claims services fixed

SCRANTON, Dec. 2 – State Rep. Kevin Murphy, D-Lackawanna, is informing residents that the state's online unemployment compensation claims system was experiencing technical failures this week.

The online unemployment claims filing system was operating intermittently while the problems were being fixed – affecting claims filed online. Murphy reassured residents that technology information staff worked on the issues around the clock and have restored normal online filing services. All continuing claims filed through Wednesday, Dec. 2 -- whether online or by telephone -- are expected to be paid by Friday, Dec. 4.

However, Murphy is reminding residents that they can always call his office at 570-342-4348 or 877-841-1450 for assistance filing claims with priority attention.

People may also call the Unemployment Compensation Service Center from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekdays at 1-888-313-7284 to file a claim over the phone. Murphy suggested calling in the morning or later in the evening for best results, as call volume is higher during the middle of the day.
