Wansacz to host town meeting on gas drilling
SCOTT TOWNSHIP, April14 – State Rep. Jim Wansacz will sponsor a town hall meeting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Lakeland High School to address regulatory and permit procedures for natural gas well drilling.
Wansacz said some of his constituents, especially those in rural areas, have been approached by gas companies to lease their land for natural gas well drilling.
"DEP will be issuing permits and regulating drilling operations," Wansacz said. "This meeting will serve as an information tool for residents who are either interested in or concerned about gas drilling in the area."
The meeting will take place in the high school's auditorium, located at 1593 Lakeland Drive in Scott Township. Representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Oil and Gas will do a presentation pertaining to regulatory procedures and permits.
Wansacz said additional information about regulatory procedures can be found on the bureau's Web site at www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/deputate/minres/OILGAS/oilgas.
