 Test 3

OLD FORGE, May 6 – State Rep. Jim Wansacz, D-Lackawanna, announced that slots gaming in Pennsylvania has generated enough revenue for area homeowners to share in nearly $613 million in school property tax relief this summer.

"I am pleased that homeowners in my legislative district will finally see a reduction in their school property taxes due to these gaming revenues," Wansacz said.

The estimated school property tax relief amount per homeowner in the 114th Legislative District is as follows:

·         Abington Heights School District homeowners –estimated relief $127

·         Carbondale School District homeowners – estimated relief $247

·         Forest City School District homeowners – estimated relief $257

·         Lackawanna Trail School District homeowners – estimated relief $229

·         Lakeland School District homeowners – estimated relief $95

·         North Pocono School District homeowners – estimated relief $208

·         Old Forge School District homeowners – estimated relief $100

·         Pittston School District homeowners – estimated relief $108

·         Riverside School District homeowners – estimated relief $155

·         Valley View District homeowners – estimated relief $183

Wansacz voted for the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2006, which directed slots revenue to be used to lower school property taxes for all homeowners.

Wansacz said that this is the first year of slots-funded relief, and that since more gaming revenues are expected to be available in coming years, the amount of relief should grow. He added that homeowners will not receive their relief allocation in the form of a check from the state, but instead will see a reduction in their property tax bill.
