Eachus comments on passing of Congressman John Murtha
HAZLETON, Feb. 8 – Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Todd Eachus, D-Luzerne, issued the following statement regarding the passing of longtime Congressman John Murtha, D-Johnstown.
"This is a sad day for the people of Pennsylvania and for the entire nation. Today, I join with all Americans in mourning the passing of Congressman Murtha – a dedicated public servant, a heroic war veteran, an icon of Pennsylvania politics and a great man.
"John Murtha has been a steady force in fighting for the values of working families across the nation. His career in Congress – and in the U.S. Marine Corps – is a record of distinction and achievement in working to improve people’s lives and to ensure the defense and security of our nation.
"Congressman Murtha’s loss will be felt from Washington to Harrisburg, from Johnstown to Hazleton, and all across the United States. Today, Pennsylvania lost a patriot, a soldier, a leader and a friend."
