Protecting seniors who receive home-care services brings lawmakers to Cheswick Tuesday
HARRISBURG, May 22 – House Majority Policy Committee Chairman Todd Eachus, D-Luzerne, said the committee will hold a public hearing about a proposal to help protect seniors receiving home care by creating the Pennsylvania Quality Home Care Commission.
The commission would bring together the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and Department of Public Welfare into an agreement with the Allegheny, Washington and Luzerne counties to maintain care standards and screen care workers in those counties.
The hearing, chaired by Allegheny County state Rep. Frank Dermody, will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the Harmar Township Municipal Building, 701 Freeport Road in Cheswick.
Testimony on the impact of home care compared to long-term care facilities will be offered by experts from the Commonwealth, Paraprofessionals Healthcare Institute and other organizations.
MEDIA COVERAGE IS INVITED.
