Eachus: House Majority Policy Committee to tour state
seeking public input on stopping violence and crime
HAZLETON, Sept. 7 -- State Rep. Todd Eachus, chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, said the committee’s newly formed Public Health and Violence Prevention Task Force will be traveling to locations all around the state in upcoming weeks to seek better ways to protect Pennsylvanians by cutting down on crime and violence in urban, suburban and rural areas.
“No one should have to be afraid to walk down the block in their own neighborhood, or in any neighborhood in the Commonwealth,” Eachus said. “This new task force was formed to go to the people and the local officials that are on the front lines to find out what we can do in Harrisburg to stop violence, help our communities and craft common-sense state laws, regulations and programs to prevent crime and improve safety.”
The first hearing will be hosted by Rep. Jennifer Mann at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Lehigh County Government Center in Allentown to address how medium-size cities can bring together government and community groups to stop crime.
Upcoming hearing hosts and locations include:
“This hearing schedule is just a starting point for the Majority Policy Committee’s newest task force,” Eachus said. “The people have spoken and they want solutions, and Democrats are getting to work right now to deliver those solutions.”
