App available for information on state game lands, hunting seasons

HARRISBURG, Aug. 9 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery wants outdoor enthusiasts to know that the Pennsylvania Game Commission now offers an app that provides information about all state game lands.

"I'm pleased that the Game Commission is using technology to make information easier to access," said Mullery, a member of the House Game and Fisheries Committee. "This app has a lot of great features."

The app uses navigation features in smartphones or tablets to provide turn-by-turn directions to parking lots, shooting ranges and check stations. It also includes details on 2012-13 seasons and regulations.

It also allows users to search for state game lands by the state game land number, wildlife management unit or by which state game land is closest to a user's location.

The app also assists hunters through the “Report Your Harvest” feature to phone in or input harvests and follow turn-by-turn directions to bear and elk check stations. Another feature provides turn-by-turn directions and contact information to Pennsylvania Game Commission offices and facilities.

The app can be downloaded for most mobile devices through links on the Game Commission’s website, www.pgc.state.pa.us. It costs $9.99, plus tax.
