Yudichak: Investment addresses water needs of residents
HARRISBURG, Sept. 25 – State Rep. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne, is commending Pennsylvania American Water Co. for its commitment to improving local water service.
The company is constructing a water main and pumping station in the Glen Lyon and Wanamie areas of Luzerne County at a cost of $970,000. The project is expected to improve service reliability for area customers and increase water flow for fighting fires.
Yudichak also praised the Newport Township commissioners for their joint effort with the water company to create a comprehensive plan that addresses the water needs of current residents and future infrastructure development.
"The major investment being made in Newport Township will provide a higher level of service to area residents," Yudichak said. "American Water and the township supervisors should be commended for their efforts to improve water services."
American Water will install 5,100 feet of 12-inch water main to connect the company’s Glen Lyon and Wanamie systems. Improvements also will be made to the Alden pumping station and Center Street pumping station.
"The company's investment in improving water service shows a strong commitment to local communities," Yudichak said.
Construction on the projects should be completed by the end of December.
