Pashinski to introduce resolution as ‘Walk at Lunch Day’ in Pa.

HARRISBURG, March 12 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, plans to introduce a House resolution designating April 28 as "Walk at Lunch Day" in Pennsylvania.

Pashinski said each year the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania spearheads the "National Walk at Lunch Day." This event seeks to promote the idea of improving health by walking during the lunch break as an easy and convenient exercise option.

"I am encouraging employers across the state to hold lunchtime walks for their employees to promote the health benefits of physical activity during the workday," Pashinski said.

The Luzerne County legislator said if employees are able to find just 30 minutes to walk briskly each day, for five days a week, they may be able to lower the risk of developing chronic illness and can improve the health of muscles, bones and joints.

Pashinski said his resolution would highlight the contribution that Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania is making in hosting a "Walk at Lunch Day."

Pashinski is a member of the House Health and Human Services Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Drugs and Alcohol.
