Pashinski: Gulf War bonus applications available in Wilkes-Barre office

WILKES-BARRE, April 30 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, is reminding constituents that his office has applications for a state program that gives bonuses to military veterans who served in the first Persian Gulf War.

Pashinski said the program provides veterans with $75 per month for each month they served in the war, up to a maximum of $525. Also, the program pays $5,000 to prisoners of war and to the families of troops who died in active service in the 1990-91 Persian Gulf Conflict.

"Our Persian Gulf War veterans put their lives on the line, and this is one way we can pay tribute to their heroic efforts -- by providing them with a bonus," Pashinski said.

The Luzerne County legislator said to be eligible for the bonus program, a veteran must have served on active duty in the Persian Gulf between Aug. 2, 1990, and Aug. 31, 1991, and received the Southwest Asia Service Medal. In addition, the applicant must have been a legal resident of Pennsylvania during the time of service, and must have served honorably.

Pashinski's office is located at 152 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Wilkes-Barre. The telephone number is 570-825-5934.

The deadline to apply for the Gulf War bonus program is Aug. 31, 2015.

Pashinski invited constituents to visit his Web site at www.pahouse.com/Pashinski for instructions on how to apply for the bonus program.
