House adopts Pashinski resolution supporting American investments

HARRISBURG, June 27 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, said the Pennsylvania House of Representatives has adopted a resolution he introduced that encourages Pennsylvanians to buy United States savings bonds and Treasury notes for the common good of the state and the United States of America.

Pashinski said his resolution (H.R. 823) is intended to show that Pennsylvanians and all Americans have a social and financial stake in the strength of the dollar.

"Americans have historically banded together to support our economy during previous wars," Pashinski said."By buying savings bonds we are demonstrating to foreign countries that the people of Pennsylvania and America are pulling together and showing their faith and trust in our nation."

The Luzerne County lawmaker acknowledged that residents' hard-earned dollars do not have the same buying power as they did just one year ago because of rapidly increasing energy costs, rising inflation and a nationwide housing credit crunch.

"We all want to improve this unsettled economy," Pashinski said. "In order to accomplish this goal,  Americans must take an active role and stop spending more money than they earn by paying off credit cards, purchasing goods and services wisely and whenever they can, buying American made products and investing in America by buying U.S. savings bonds and Treasury notes."
