McCall inducts 14 Carbon County residents into the Voter Hall of Fame
NESQUEHONING, Sept. 18 – State Rep. Keith McCall, D-Carbon, inducted 14 Carbon County residents into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame at a ceremony at Nesquehoning’s Lantern Restaurant today.
Chet Harhut, deputy commissioner of elections, joined McCall at the event, along with Carbon County Commissioner Chairman Bill O’Gurek and Ken Leffler, Carbon County Bureau of Elections director.
"The right to vote in this country is often overlooked, but the citizens being honored here today have shown that casting a vote is not just a choice, but also a duty to democracy," McCall said. "I am proud to add an additional 14 names to the book that is part of the Pennsylvania Voter Exhibit and Voter Hall of Fame in Harrisburg."
Administered by the Department of State’s Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation, the Voter Hall of Fame was established to acknowledge and honor Pennsylvanians who have voted in every November election for at least 50 consecutive years.
This year’s Hall of Fame inductees include:

Mary Desantis of Nesquehoning Barbara Hydro of Lehighton
Arlene Drumheller of Lehighton Margaret Polumbo of Beaver Meadows
Larry Engle of Bowmanstown Franklin Schatz of Jim Thorpe
Anna Fada of Summit Hill Dorothy Tomko of Summit Hill
Dorothy Faenza of Summit Hill Marion Tyahla of Nesquehoning
Geraldine Geraltko of Tresckow Joan Ulshafer of Nesquehoning
"These inductees are role models for our younger generations, as they inspire voters all over our area to show their commitment to the democratic process by getting out there and voting," McCall said.
