Unfair ‘spot’ assessments subject of Friday hearing

As part of my continuing effort to fight unfair property tax burdens on homeowners, I will join the House Local Government Committee in our area for a hearing on two bills I am co-sponsoring  (H.B.s 1438 and 1439) that would ban the "spot" assessments that are a growing concern in the 123rd Legislative District.

These assessments are initiated only because a property is sold, despite the fact that a similar or identical property nearby may continue to be taxed at a lower rate.

Please join me for this important hearing -- 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 15 in the John Morgan Auditorium, Penn State Schuylkill Campus, 200 University Drive, Schuylkill Haven.
