State House passage clears first hurdle for health insurance bill
This week, my House colleagues and I cleared the first hurdle in addressing one of the biggest issues for Pennsylvanians of all ages and income levels: affordable and accessible health care.
I joined the House in voting to pass a plan – Pennsylvania Access to Basic Care – that would help hundreds of thousands of working Pennsylvanians without health insurance gain access to affordable coverage.
The program also would help small-business employers defray the cost of providing health coverage to their low-wage employees, as well as provide access to coverage for people who are denied private insurance because of a pre-existing condition.
If you’re one of the nearly 1,000 people in Schuylkill County currently on the waiting list for the state's current insurance program for adults -- adultBasic -- this proposal would place you under PA ABC and provide you immediate coverage.
