Judiciary Committee sends five bills to full House
HARRISBURG, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Thomas Caltagirone, D-Berks, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said the committee today approved five pieces of legislation.
The bills include:
· H.B. 1931 - would increase the amount banks and financial institutions make immediately available to survivors of deceased account holders for funeral expenses;
· H.B. 2216 - would apply the state's current wire tap law to electronic or wire communication service providers located outside the Commonwealth that do business within the state;
· S.B. 1153 - would transfer governing authority for the Minor Judiciary Education Board from the state Senate to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court;
· S.B. 1263 – would extend the life of the state's wire tap law an additional five years to December 31, 2013; and
· S.B. 1269 – would prevent statements made by a juvenile offender during a pre-trial screening process from being used as evidence in court.
Each bill now goes to the full House for a vote.
