Kessler: PennDOT expects work to begin in May on $3 million in improvements to busy 422-662 intersection
AMITY, April 1 – State Rep. David Kessler today announced that the state Department of Transportation expects work to begin in May on $3.044 million in improvements to the busy intersection of routes 422 and 662 in Amity Township.
"The 422-662 intersection is often a bottleneck for traffic at rush hour, and I appreciate that PennDOT is moving forward on these improvements, which should improve safety and traffic flow," Kessler said.
PennDOT informed Kessler the contract was awarded on March 11 and the notice to proceed is expected to go out by mid-April. While PennDOT does not anticipate detours at this time, it is likely that lane alterations will be necessary during the project.
The safety improvement project will include a right-turn lane for westbound traffic on Route 422 at the Route 662 intersection, with overhead directional signs and pavement markings, and full signals on Route 422 eastbound and westbound at the intersection with River Bridge Road.
