Kessler announces $21,000 in environmental grants for area

OLEY, April 16 – State Rep. David Kessler today announced the awarding of more than $21,000 in state environmental grants to communities in the 130th Legislative District.

Kessler said three communities were awarded grants to reimburse them for half the cost of enforcing clean-water requirements:

"I commend these communities for their efforts to ensure clean water, and I will continue working to advance environmental priorities such as open-space and farmland preservation and investing in cleaner, homegrown alternative energy sources that create jobs here instead of sending more money to the Middle East," Kessler said.

Last year, Kessler helped to lead the successful opposition in the House to a Senate-passed bill that would have removed $40 million from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. That fund provides money for parks and open-space preservation, as well as library improvements.
