Mann: State Property Tax/Rent Rebate Deadline is Dec. 31
HARRISBURG, Dec. 14 – The deadline is December 31 for senior citizens and other eligible residents to apply for Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.
"We have worked hard to bring property tax/rent rebates to our most vulnerable, including senior citizens and others on low or fixed incomes, providing much needed relief in this year’s difficult economic environment. If you need help filling out your rent rebate or need a form, please call or visit my office," said State Rep. Jennifer Mann, D-Lehigh.
The program provides seniors and other qualifying residents with rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2008. The maximum rebate a homeowner or renter can receive is $650.
Rebates are available to income-eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 or older, widows or widowers 50 or older, and people 18 or older with a permanent disability. The income limit for these Pennsylvanians is $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters, excluding half of Social Security income.
