Brennan: 133rd Legislative District receives recycling grants
Harrisburg, Oct. 17 – State Rep. Joseph Brennan is pleased to announce that several grants have been awarded to communities in the 133rd Legislative District for their recycling efforts.
The grants are part of the state’s Recycling Performance Grant Program for the 2005 calendar year, and are based on the tonnage of material that was recycled and each municipality’s population. The grants were awarded as follows:
- $19,943 to Hanover Township based on 1,743 tons of material.
- $9,437 to Fountain Hill based on 574 tons of material.
- $8,834 to Catasauqua based on 563 tons of material.
- $546,849 to Allentown based on 22,636 tons of material.
- $8,778 to Coplay based on 472 tons of material.
- $170,587 to Whitehall Township based on 5,588 tons of material.
The Recycling Performance Grant Program provides an incentive for Pennsylvania communities to increase the amount of material recovered through recycling and to promote economic growth in the Commonwealth.
These grants are awarded in addition to other Department of Environmental Protection funding that is provided to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
