Grucela applauds Verizon for Valentine’s Day present to troops
Armed Forces overseas to receive free phone calls through Feb. 18
MOUNT BETHEL, Feb. 14 – State Rep. Richard Grucela, D-Northampton, commended Verizon Business for playing Cupid once again this year by providing free phone calls for U.S. Armed Forces personnel stationed in Iraq.
The calls home are made possible through a state-of-the-art Verizon Business mobile communications vehicle currently deployed in Iraq. Verizon Business has made the facility available to military personnel today and all week -- from Feb. 12 through 18.
“Verizon’s effort to keep our armed forces connected to loved ones back home is a wonderful example of how businesses can boost the morale of our troops and their families,” said Grucela, a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee. “While many of us are preparing for a special night out or are busy ordering and sending flowers, our service men and women are overseas missing their loved ones. This gesture is commendable.”
